Wound Care

The therapists at the Rehabilitation Services Department of Sanford Hospital Luverne (SHL) have specialized training in wound treatment. Our skilled therapists are able to make detailed assessments and recommendations for the appropriate course of wound treatment.

Wound care modalities used at SHL:
  • Assortment of dressings and topical agents, depending on the type of wound and amount of drainage.
  • Assortment of modalities to facilitate wound healing, including whirlpool, or electrical stimulation.
  • Selective debridement.
Successful treatment for arterial ulcers, pressure and shear ulcers, burns, and many other types of wounds has been provided by our licensed therapists when ordered by a physician. The therapists also provide education on positioning, proper foot wear, and other considerations that facilitate healing and prevent reoccurrence of the wound.
